January 2025 | Climate Events across Colorado
Monthly climate events, jobs, and news in the Colorado front range
There’s a lot going on in Colorado, and it shouldn’t be a secret! It’s not the biggest tech scene, but Colorado’s unique mix of research, policy, companies, mountains, and people work together to make it a major climate hub. This newsletter is an independent roundup of community-submitted climate events in the Colorado Front Range area and is not associated with any specific company or group.
Happy new year! 🥳 Nobody can say for sure what will happen in 2025, but it will be significant for the climate community. $140 million from the IRA is finally rolling out to consumers in Colorado, and Xcel tripled their heat pump rebates. So that’s pretty cool. At the same time, a new white house administration and ongoing high interest rates have been a wet blanket on climate investment. 🎭 👀
But there is one thing to get excited about now. Colorado Climate Week!
On the front end of NREL’s Industry Growth Forum, the inaugural Colorado Climate Week will convene cleantech experts in Denver (March 24-26). We’ll have more info for you next month, but mark your calendars ASAP. Save your ski trip for another week.
Our spotlight 🔦 from Hannah Davis continues this month is with Megha Agrawal Sood, a leader at the intersection of climate, art, and culture.

Colorado’s Clean Energy Plan aims for an 80% reduction in carbon emissions and retirement of all coal power by 2030. Where will Colorado get power instead?
We are doing a mini-series with our friends at Interconnection.fyi, a free tool to see power plant projects under development in the U.S, to bring you answers for Colorado.
Check out the 129 potential utility scale projects (usually 10s or 100s of MW per project), adding up to 21 GW today, under consideration in Colorado here. Spoiler: it’s mostly solar, wind, and batteries.
You can also see the thousands of distributed generation (< 1 MW per project) solar projects under development in Colorado here.
