There’s a lot going on in Colorado, and it shouldn’t be a secret! It’s not the biggest tech scene, but Colorado’s unique mix of research, policy, companies, mountains, and people work together to make it a major climate hub. This newsletter is an independent roundup of community-submitted climate events in the Colorado Front Range area and is not associated with any specific company or group.

What’s in the Queue in Colorado? As with the rest of the country, new generation is made up primarily of wind, solar, and a heavy sprinkling of batteries. There are some smaller new gas plants in the works, but when you look for a high capacity gas plant nothing new has been added in 14 years.

The Grid of Tomorrow: CETA's Vision for Colorado

CETA’s 2024 Transmission Study identified a significant long-term need for transmission in the state. The study’s reference case calls for $4.5 billion of grid investment by 2045. Under a high-demand scenario, assuming a sharp increase in electricity demand in the state due to drivers like electrification and data center growth, an additional $4.2 billion in grid investment is needed by 2045.
